PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Canning (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johan Axelsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 37 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johan Axelsson!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some bone on bone action there as Axelsson checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Canning throws a head kick that misses.

Axelsson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Canning's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Axelsson in particular looking to stall.

Axelsson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Axelsson showed some decent athleticism there.

Canning manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Axelsson keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jason Canning will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Canning fires out a quick counter leg kick but Axelsson just manages to avoid it.

Canning pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Axelsson tries to pull guard but Canning won't allow it.
Axelsson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Canning is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Axelsson has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Canning after a bit of a struggle.
Canning lands an elbow inside that Axelsson shrugs off.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
