PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Corey Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dag Daghammar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davis comes to the cage accompanied by Can't Be Touched. Daghammar has chosen Just like that - Dregen as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dag Daghammar!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daghammar avoids the body shot from Davis.
Daghammar misses with a looping right.
Davis showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Daghammar.
Corey Davis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Davis lands a jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Davis looks to land a combination. Daghammar sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Davis seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Daghammar connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Davis throws a hook but Daghammar avoids it easily.
Daghammar scores with a jab. Davis acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Daghammar throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Davis on the side of the head.

With the fighters up against the cage, Davis throws an elbow but misses.

Davis breaks from the clinch.
Davis cracks Daghammar with a good jab.
Davis misses with a looping left.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Corey Davis will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Davis rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Davis takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Davis throws an overhand right that lands on Daghammar's shoulder, as Daghammar tries to avoid the shot.

It appears Davis was looking to counter with a kick there.

and Daghammar connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Davis smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Daghammar gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Daghammar lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Davis circles away quickly and effectively.
Daghammar bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Davis's head.
Davis throws a lazy right hand but Daghammar sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A telegraphed right hand from Davis misses the target.
Davis tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Daghammar was well out of range. Poor timing from Davis.
It seemed like Daghammar was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Davis scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Daghammar drops Davis with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Davis looks back up at him and smiles so Daghammar waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Davis is rocked!
Daghammar steps in with a hook that catches Davis right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Daghammar follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Davis looks absolutely devastated.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:15 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dag Daghammar!
Dag Daghammar is the new lightweight champion!
Dag Daghammar really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Sin City Allstars logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
The defeated Corey Davis had this to say: 'All the best to my opponent in the Olympics'.
