Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Glover (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leonel Gatti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Glover lands a head shot.

It looks like Leonel Gatti has been cut.
Glover tests Gatti's chin there with a solid looking shot.

and Glover counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Gatti takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Gatti is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Glover.

A quick step to the side and Glover tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gatti throws a hook but Glover avoids it easily.
Leonel Gatti seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gatti swings for the body but Glover moves out of range.

It looked like Glover wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Gatti fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Glover has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Gatti connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Glover's hands.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gatti was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

Glover looks to score with a jab to the body but Gatti is just out of range.
Gatti throws a left and a right that both miss
and Glover connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Glover's corner calls for a 1-2. Glover obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

and Gatti counters with a nice double leg into side control. Glover won't be happy with that.
Glover is trying to control Gatti's posture but Gatti avoids it.
Gatti is looking to take a break and control but Glover is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jeff Glover will probably get the nod.

I was talking to Glover's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gatti is trying to trip Glover. He has hold of a leg but Glover is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Gatti persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Glover is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Glover is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Gatti frees his head nicely. Oh but Glover has switched to an armbar! Gatti is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
