The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Al Ahwei tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but NKone was well out of range. Poor timing from Al Ahwei.
Al Ahwei throws a big shot that misses.
NKone steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Al Ahwei.
Al Ahwei slips a straight right by NKone.
NKone swings widly with a right hand
and Al Ahwei counters with a good, hard body kick but NKone shrugs it off.
Al Ahwei displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as NKone throws out the jab.

Al Ahwei has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as NKone is landing a low percentage of strikes.

NKone fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Al Ahwei to the ground. NKone is now in Al Ahwei's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

NKone shoots for a takedown but Al Ahwei saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

NKone throws a hook to the side of Al Ahwei's head but Al Ahwei sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
It seemed like Al Ahwei was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
NKone lands a right hook to the body.
NKone throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Al Ahwei! But no joy.
NKone displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Al Ahwei throws out the jab.
Al Ahwei swings away with a leg kick that misses.
NKone looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
NKone pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Al Ahwei back to the cage. NKone follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
NKone throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Al Ahwei stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Farouk Al Ahwei will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

NKone stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Al Ahwei swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Al Ahwei manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. NKone manages to get himself to full guard.
