The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Manuel lands a head shot.
Silva takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Silva misses with a lunging right hand
and Manuel counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Silva swings widly with a right hand
and Manuel counters with a left to the body.
Adriano Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva throws a sloppy body shot
and Manuel counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Silva tries for a takedown but Manuel circles away easily
and Manuel counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Manuel instigates a clinch.
Manuel lands a body punch.

Manuel escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Manuel has managed to clinch.
Silva is looking to break free of the clinch but Manuel has double underhooks.
Manuel lands with a light punch inside.
Silva misses with a hook from the clinch.
Manuel lands a left hand.

Manuel lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Manuel gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Silva is trying to escape back to his feet but Manuel uses the scramble to pass into side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Manuel's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Manuel continues to stall.

Manuel decides to take the fight back to the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Manuel goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Manuel feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Silva sprawling to the canvas! Silva rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Manuel finish him?!

Silva is rocked!
Manuel drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Silva right on the button. Silva goes down! Manuel follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Manuel gets the win via TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Peter Manuel!
