Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jake Butler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marco Rojas!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Richard Clark and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Butler takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Rojas lands an overhand right.
Rojas scores with a hook to the body. Butler takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Rojas lands with a shot to the body.
Rojas connects with a nice looking jab.

Butler shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rojas's guard.
Butler wants to control from the top but Rojas keeps moving.

We've been hearing that Butler has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Butler postures up in Rojas's guard and throws a big left but Rojas blocks it.

Butler working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Rojas's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Butler loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Butler is stalling in the full guard.
Butler stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rojas swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rojas can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Butler passes Rojas's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Butler is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Rojas!

It looks like Marco Rojas has been cut.
Butler takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Butler has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Butler throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Rojas has his hands clasped together but Butler breaks the hold and Rojas is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Butler!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jake Butler!
