The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Newman tries to keep at a distance but Miller has taken the fight into the clinch.
Newman is trying to force a seperation but Miller has the dominant position.
Miller is pushing Newman up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Miller pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

I was talking to Newman's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Newman tries a body shot but Miller blocks it.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Miller working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Miller is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Newman is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The referee asks Miller politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Miller prefers to stall for the moment though.

Newman tries to close the distance and clinch but Miller swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Newman leaves Miller with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Miller shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Newman is trying to defend but Miller finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Well Miller has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
