The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Risley misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kersikov lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Kersikov stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Risley.
Kersikov avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kersikov throws a low kick, looking for Risley's leg but Risley calmly moves out of range.
Kersikov blocks a head kick by Risley.
Kersikov lunges at Risley with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Risley's hand.

Kersikov closes the distance and clinches.
Kersikov fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Kersikov lands with a light punch inside.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Risley blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Risley wants a takedown but no success here.
Kersikov tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Kersikov swings wildly with an uppercut but Risley uses good head movement to avoid it.

Risley dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Kersikov. That did some damage!

Risley shoots for a double leg takedown but Kersikov sprawls well. He's pushed Risley's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Kersikov throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Risley's head.
Risley shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kersikov as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Risley. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kersikov enables Risley to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kersikov manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Kersikov has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Risley is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Risley changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kersikov fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Risley dives in and grabs Kersikov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kersikov pushes down on Risley's head and hops out.

Kersikov uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Kersikov drops his hands momentarily and Risley takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
