The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gero closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Sudo has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Gero is trying to keep an underhook but Sudo manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Gero wants to control but Sudo is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Gero has hold of Sudo's hands but Sudo slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Gero is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sudo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sudo's back!

I really don't envy Sudo right now.

Sudo felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Sudo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Sudo lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Sudo is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Gero is hurt! He's hurt bad - Sudo fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Gero from any more punishment! Congratulations to Sudo! Great finish!
