Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Juan Cabrillo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dan Gombos!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gombos cracks Cabrillo with an open hand slap.
Cabrillo has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Cabrillo moves out of range as Gombos strikes.
Cabrillo tries to counter with a takedown but Gombos is quick to defend against it.
Cabrillo avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Cabrillo takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Gombos throws a looping overhand right but Cabrillo ducks down to avoid it.
Gombos tries for a takedown but Cabrillo circles away easily
and Cabrillo counters with a stiff right hand.

Gombos lands a nice hook to Cabrillo's body. Cabrillo takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

A quick step to the side and Cabrillo tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Cabrillo tries to bum rush Gombos with a series of wild strikes but Gombos uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gombos lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Gombos throws a hook to the side of Cabrillo's head but Cabrillo sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Gombos scores with a crisp jab that stopped Cabrillo in his tracks.
Gombos misses with a shot to the body
and Cabrillo counters with a three punch combo that has Gombos backing up. Gombos nods at Cabrillo to acknowledge the strikes.

Cabrillo shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Gombos eats them both and turns towards Cabrillo to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cabrillo takes a swing at Gombos's ribcage but misses.
Cabrillo takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Gombos uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Cabrillo.
Cabrillo lands a body shot.
Cabrillo cracks Gombos with a right hand to the side of the head.
Gombos throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cabrillo sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Cabrillo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gombos moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Cabrillo counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
The fighters circling - Gombos throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A jab from Gombos finds it's way through Cabrillo's defenses.
Cabrillo is looking to wear down Gombos with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Cabrillo drives through with a takedown into Gombos's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Cabrillo might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Gombos shoots in looking for a takedown. Cabrillo tries to sprawl out of it but Gombos keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Cabrillo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Gombos stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Cabrillo takes one to the chin there.
Cabrillo throws a big shot that misses.
Gombos rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cabrillo moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Cabrillo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Gombos had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cabrillo defends it easily.

Gombos shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Cabrillo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Gombos is pushing down on Cabrillo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cabrillo is fighting to maintain full guard but Gombos has managed to sneak the leg through.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Gombos stalling away here and it's allowed Cabrillo to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Gombos is looking to work some ground and pound but Cabrillo has wrist control.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cabrillo is on top in guard.


Gombos is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well Gombos has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Dan Gombos was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
