PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rogue Four (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hatsu Matsu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matsu is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by LMFAO - Sexy and I Know It. Hatsu Matsu will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rogue Four!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hatsu Matsu!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Matsu has managed to clinch.
Four is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Matsu is defending well.
I was talking to Four's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Four is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Matsu to keep the fight standing.

Matsu looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Hatsu Matsu.
Matsu tries to clinch up but Four circles away and keeps his distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Four connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Matsu rushes Four and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Four tries to break the clinch but Matsu is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Matsu works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Four is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Matsu is aware though and is defending well.

Four can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Matsu controls the pace.
Let's hope that Matsu has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Four escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Matsu gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Four has his foot on Matsu's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Matsu works his way back into a safe position though.
Four might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Matsu stays in close to Four's body and controls the position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Matsu's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Matsu gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Four is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Matsu.

Matsu is looking to control Four's arms but Four gets an underhook and turns him. Now Matsu has his back to the cage.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Four is trying to pull guard but Matsu turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Matsu - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Matsu trying to control the position but instead, Four has worked for underhooks and has pushed Matsu into the cage.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Hatsu Matsu.

and Four counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Four.
Matsu manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Four manages to get himself to full guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Matsu is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Four's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Four wants to control but Matsu is keeping busy.
Matsu frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Matsu takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Matsu wants to take Four's back but he can't do it this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Four tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Matsu controlling the pace for now.
Four keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Matsu wants to free his trapped foot but Four is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Still in half guard, Matsu seems content to control.
Four is trying to control but can't.
Matsu is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Four!
Matsu tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Matsu.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Hatsu Matsu showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Matsu tries to close the distance and clinch up but Four swats him away and circles back towards the center.

I would just about give that final round to Hatsu Matsu.
