Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Niemeyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Madwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Niemeyer had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Madwell defends it easily.
Madwell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Niemeyer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Madwell wants to get up but he can't break Niemeyer's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Niemeyer has his foot on Madwell's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Madwell works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Niemeyer is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Madwell is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Madwell fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Niemeyer on the side of the head.
Madwell connects with a good right hand that stumbles Niemeyer. Niemeyer circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Madwell lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Madwell.

Niemeyer keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Madwell's efforts to push away.

Niemeyer tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Madwell just stands there and leans against the cage.
Niemeyer is breathing heavily.
Niemeyer is looking to control Madwell's arms but Madwell gets an underhook and turns him. Now Niemeyer has his back to the cage.
Madwell tries to work over Niemeyer's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Madwell tries to circle away but Niemeyer has him pinned against the cage.

Madwell is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Madwell throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Madwell tries to break the clinch but Niemeyer is controlling the position.
Madwell misses with a hook to the ribs.
Madwell can't find room to land a body shot as Niemeyer controls the action.
Madwell is trying to force a seperation but Niemeyer has the dominant position.
Madwell looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Madwell is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Madwell breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Madwell lands with a good body shot.

Madwell has managed to clinch.
Madwell pushes Niemeyer back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Madwell can't break the clinch.
Madwell is trying to break the clinch but Niemeyer has him pressed against the cage.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Madwell lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Madwell throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Max Madwell dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Nice body punch from Madwell.
Madwell feints a jab promting Niemeyer to slip. Madwell then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Niemeyer slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Max Madwell seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Niemeyer tries for a takedown but Madwell sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Madwell tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Niemeyer paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Niemeyer shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Niemeyer throws a low kick, looking for Madwell's leg but Madwell calmly moves out of range.
A nice side step and Madwell releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Niemeyer shoots in but no luck this time.
Madwell tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Niemeyer paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Madwell cracks a nice hook into Niemeyer's ribs.
Madwell scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Madwell punishes Niemeyer's body with a nice straight punch.

Madwell lands a left and a right that send Niemeyer crashing to the mat, dazed. Madwell thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Niemeyer is rocked!
Lucas Niemeyer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Madwell catches Niemeyer with a right, a left, a right. It's raining punches and Niemeyer forgot an umbrella! Another punch and he's down. This one is over!
