Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sinbad Baba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mateus Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Baba's entrance music is King of Seven Seas. A fine choice. Gracie has chosen Broke & Hungry as his entrance music. Mateus Gracie told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
30 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sinbad Baba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
20 - 11 - 1, fighting out of London, Mateus Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie moves out of range of the strikes.
Baba takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Gracie throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Baba was covering up waiting for the punch and Gracie finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Gracie stops Baba from standing up.
Baba working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Gracie.
Gracie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Baba swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gracie throws a big elbow that misses.
Gracie trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Baba is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gracie is controlling him.

Gracie shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Baba is trying to defend but Gracie finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Gracie is working for a kimura but Baba is defending it quite comfortably.

Gracie steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Baba.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Gracie changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

It looks like Mateus Gracie has been cut.
Gracie throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Some bone on bone action there as Baba checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Baba avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Gracie fails with a takedown attempt.

Gracie takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Baba throws a jab but it's blocked by Gracie.

And Gracie tries to counter it with a takedown but Baba pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Baba misses with an uppercut.
Baba lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Baba avoids a kick to the body.
Baba has managed to clinch.
Baba is looking to control Gracie's arms but Gracie gets an underhook and turns him. Now Baba has his back to the cage.
Baba lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Gracie backwards.
Gracie breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mateus Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Baba ducks under a wild hook from Gracie.
Gracie shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Baba counters with a lovely shot to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Baba tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Gracie looks to land a right hand but Baba moved out of range.
Gracie dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Baba. That did some damage!
Baba lands with an overhand left.
Gracie misses with a low kick.
Baba half committed to a counter leg kick.
Baba avoids a kick to the body.
Baba misses with a two punch combination.
Gracie tries to land a front kick but Baba steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Baba feints and then cracks Gracie's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Gracie down.
Gracie bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Gracie dips to his left and cracks Baba with an uppercut!
Gracie on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Baba misses with a hook. Gracie ducked under it nicely.
Baba misses with a low kick.
Gracie lands with a hook. Baba tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sinbad Baba dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Mateus Gracie's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Baba has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Baba there as he acknowledges the shot.
Gracie avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Baba on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Gracie feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Baba's calf.
Baba takes a swing at Gracie's ribcage but misses.
Gracie feints the counter takedown.
Baba throws a looping overhand right but Gracie ducks down to avoid it.
Gracie's coach down at Scotty's Yard was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Gracie's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Nice uppercut there from Baba.
Gracie tries to clinch but Baba is having none of it.
Gracie throws a hook but Baba blocks it.
Gracie throws a body shot but no joy.
Baba lands a lovely overhand right.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Gracie shoots in looking for a takedown but Baba manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gracie's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Gracie seems to have recovered his senses.

Baba connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Gracie momentarily.
Gracie lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Gracie decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Baba has one foot on Gracie's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Gracie moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Baba avoids the body shot from Gracie.
Baba throws a shot from downtown. Gracie moves away and avoids it.
Baba cracks Gracie with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Gracie looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Baba finish him?
Gracie shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Gracie missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Gracie advances to half guard.
Baba pushes Gracie off and gets back to his feet.
Baba is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gracie can do to turn this around?

and Baba counters with a big right hand! Oh Gracie is in trouble here! Baba follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sinbad Baba!
A relieved looking Sinbad Baba thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
The defeated Mateus Gracie had this to say: 'Oh man will this mean another damn thread...'.
