PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lapu Lapu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kato Masaishii (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kato Masaishii told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lapu throws a right hand that Masaishii ducks under and follows up with a left that Masaishii also avoids with ease.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Masaishii dives in for a single leg takedown but Lapu sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Masaishii has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

and Lapu makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Masaishii throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lapu was covering up waiting for the punch and Masaishii finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Lapu manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Lapu stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lapu wants it to stay on the feet.

Masaishii tries a quick counter leg kick but Lapu is wise to it.
Lapu scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Well Lapu has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
