PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Chris Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yas Uru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yas Uru!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Uru with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Griffin doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Uru cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Uru lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Griffin misses with a takedown attempt
and Uru counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Griffin gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Griffin takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Griffin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Griffin shoots in looking for a takedown but Uru manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Griffin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Uru is looking for the big counter here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Griffin tries to clinch but Uru moves away
and Uru counters with a straight right hand.
Griffin wants to clinch but Uru slips to the side
and Uru cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Griffin shoots in for a takedown but Uru shows good takedown defense.
Uru unleashes a big counter combination but Griffin bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Griffin gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Uru counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Yas Uru is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Griffin shoots in and bounces Uru off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Griffin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Uru is keeping the position for now.
Griffin wants to control from the top but Uru keeps moving.
Griffin engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Griffin seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Uru for as long as he can get away with.
Uru keeping moving, preventing Griffin from controlling successfully.
Uru wants to stand up but Griffin is controlling him.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Griffin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Uru as he jumps to the side.
Uru throws out a counter right but Griffin avoids it with no problem.
Griffin shoots in but Uru avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Griffin shoots and misses
and Uru counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Griffin is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Griffin doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Uru counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Griffin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Uru sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Griffin somewhat.
Uru replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Griffin blocks it well.

Griffin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Uru was covering up waiting for the punch and Griffin finishes the takedown easily into guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Griffin trying to control but Uru is working from the bottom.
Uru wants to stand but Griffin is controlling the position.
Griffin looking to sit in guard and control but Uru gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Uru trying to stand up but can't free himself from Griffin's guard.

Uru stands up from guard. Let's bang!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yas Uru dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Uru will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Griffin tries to counter with a takedown but Uru is quick to defend against it.
Uru has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Griffin is trying hard to land a takedown here. Uru sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Griffin tries to clinch but Uru is having none of it.
Griffin shoots in for a takedown but Uru shows good takedown defense.

and Uru counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

letting Uru counter with a right hand.
Oh Griffin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Uru throws an overhand right that drops Griffin like a sack of potatoes! Uru dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:15 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Yas Uru!
A less than humble Yas Uru misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
