Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tarik Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Cronos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cronos has chosen Sandstorm as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Tarik Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jose Cronos!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Ren Mimura and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Cronos has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Johnson slips a jab from Cronos.
Johnson moves into range and connects with a jab.
A big right from Cronos misses.
Johnson closes the distance and clinches up with Cronos, looking for a takedown. Johnson pushes Cronos against the cage but Cronos circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Cronos takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Johnson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cronos sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Johnson moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Cronos misses with a double jab.

Cronos closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Johnson to the mat! Johnson manages to get full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Johnson will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Cronos won't allow Johnson to sweep him here.
Johnson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Johnson lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Cronos bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Johnson's guard.

Cronos has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Johnson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Cronos wants to stand and escape but Johnson is having none of it.

Johnson lands a nice shot to the body.
Johnson tried to score with a low kick but Cronos checks it.
A nice side step and Cronos releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Johnson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Cronos is looking for the big counter here.
Johnson misses the shot to the body.
Cronos drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Johnson defends it well.

Nice takedown defense from Johnson. No joy for Cronos on that attempt.
A combination from Cronos does no damage.
Cronos misses with a hook.
Johnson throws a big counter combination but Cronos scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Johnson.
Johnson clobbers Cronos with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Cronos ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Cronos bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Johnson throws a left and a right that both miss
and Cronos counters with a nice body shot.
Johnson swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Cronos is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

That kick from Johnson tenderised Cronos's leg. Cronos is trying to keep his angry face on.

and Cronos makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Johnson swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Cronos catches Johnson with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Cronos's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Johnson connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Cronos scrambles back to his feet.

and Cronos counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cronos slips a straight right by Johnson.

Johnson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cronos circles away quickly and effectively.

Johnson avoids a punch combination nicely.

and Cronos counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Johnson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Cronos.

Johnson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

and Cronos counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A looping hook to the body misses from Johnson. Cronos does a little dance to reset his feet.
Cronos let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Johnson lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Jose Cronos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Johnson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Johnson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cronos's waist but Cronos gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Johnson off to one side.

Cronos is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Johnson defends it well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tarik Johnson.
I think Johnson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
