Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jethro Rusted!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joy James!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Johanna Lukiainen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James misses with a two punch combination.
Joy James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
James tries to clinch there but Rusted circles away.
James throws a looping overhand right but Rusted ducks down to avoid it.
Rusted goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
James throws an off balance right hand
and Rusted counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

James drives through and clinches with Rusted against the cage.
James misses with a hook from the clinch.
Rusted lands a right hand.
Rusted is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. James is defending well for now.
James doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
James avoiding damage as Rusted throws knees to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rusted prevents a body shot from James.

Rusted scores with a crisp jab that stopped James in his tracks.
James tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rusted swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Rusted is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Rusted looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

and James counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by James.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for James.
Rusted misses with a body punch.

Rusted manages to break the clinch.
James throws a combination. Rusted tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
James is looking to clinch.
A left lands for Rusted.
Nice uppercut there from Rusted.
James moves out of range of the body kick from Rusted.
James throws a series of punches but Rusted moves out of range.
The crowd cheers as James lands an impressive looking overhand right. Rusted doesn't seem phased though.
Rusted connects with a solid leg kick.
James moves forwards but Rusted connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Rusted lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Rusted avoids the body shot from James.
Rusted thinks about countering with a body kick.
James lands a jab.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
James throws an overhand right that lands on Rusted's shoulder, as Rusted tries to avoid the shot.
Rusted half committed to a counter leg kick.
Rusted digs a good body shot into James's ribs.
Rusted's jab looks to have found its range, popping James under the eye.
Rusted is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
A slapping leg kick lands for Rusted.
James on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Rusted misses with a wild combination.

Rusted manages to get an easy takedown there - catching James on his heels. He'll look to pass James's guard now, I'm sure.
James really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rusted. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Rusted lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Rusted passes James's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rusted wants to pass the guard but James is defending well.
James wants to improve his position but Rusted is controlling well.
Rusted not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jethro Rusted dominated that round.
That's time! Rusted's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


James on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
James moves in looking to clinch but Rusted pushes him off.

James clinches.
Rusted slows down the pace here.
James lands with a light punch inside.
James misses with a punch on the inside.
Rusted blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Rusted softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rusted's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Rusted breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rusted connects with a high kick.

James drives through and clinches with Rusted against the cage.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Rusted.

James misses with a short punch on the inside.

Rusted escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
James has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
A looping hook to the body misses from Rusted. James does a little dance to reset his feet.
A slapping body kick lands there for Rusted.
Rusted works the jab nicely.
James swings widly with a right hand

and Rusted counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Rusted is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Rusted wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.
Rusted throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

James is trying to control the position but Rusted postures up.
Rusted is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that James can do to turn this around?
James is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Rusted content to stall in guard here.
James not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Rusted throwing strikes but missing.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rusted lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Rusted bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
James throws a lazy uppercut
and Rusted counters with a leg kick.

Rusted looking to score a takedown here. James is defending well but Rusted drives through and ends up in James's guard.
Rusted with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Rusted trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jethro Rusted overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Rusted pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. James is keeping the position for now.
Rusted won't allow James to sweep him here.
Rusted postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Rusted cracks James with a solid left hand.
James manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rusted manages to get himself to full guard.


Rusted is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and James defends well.

Rusted is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
James seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

James stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Rusted throws up his legs and catches James in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! James tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Rusted! That came out of nowhere!
