Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between George Lansky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Rodriguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Carlos Rodriguez!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, David Hoff and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab from Rodriguez.
Rodriguez dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Rodriguez throws a quick inside leg kick.
A head kick misses from Rodriguez.
Lansky throws a right hand that Rodriguez ducks under and follows up with a left that Rodriguez also avoids with ease.
Rodriguez looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Lansky blocks a head kick by Rodriguez.

Lansky moves into the clinch successfully.
Lansky misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Lansky breaks the clinch.
Rodriguez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Carlos Rodriguez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rodriguez is looking to clinch but Lansky is avoiding it.
Rodriguez scores with a kick to the midsection.
Lansky stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Rodriguez.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Lansky has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Rodriguez wants to stand up but Lansky is controlling him.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Rodriguez lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Rodriguez.
Lansky tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Rodriguez defends well and Lansky ends up having to push Rodriguez into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Lansky looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Rodriguez tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Lansky manages to move to mount!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lansky lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Rodriguez hang on?

Lansky scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Lansky breaks from Rodriguez's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Lansky takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Lansky is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Rodriguez has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Rodriguez!

Lansky looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Rodriguez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lansky has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rodriguez has managed to get both his arms back between Lansky's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Lansky has his foot on Rodriguez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rodriguez works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rodriguez stands and steps away. Lansky gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Lansky pushes Rodriguez up against the cage in a clinch.
Rodriguez should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Lansky dodges an elbow strike from Rodriguez.
Come on Lansky - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Lansky looking for a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Lansky. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lansky gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rodriguez kicks Lansky off and gets to his feet.

Lansky closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Lansky prevents Rodriguez from standing back up.
Rodriguez looks winded!
Rodriguez scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Lansky manages to mount him!
Rodriguez is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that George Lansky will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


A slow jab from Rodriguez misses its intended target.
Rodriguez throws a head kick that half lands.
Rodriguez lands a nice hook to Lansky's body. Lansky takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Rodriguez throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Lansky counters by moving into the clinch.
Lansky prevents a body shot from Rodriguez.
Lansky blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Lansky breaks from the clinch.
Rodriguez is looking to clinch but Lansky is avoiding it.
Rodriguez throws a wild body kick that Lansky sees coming a mile off.
Lansky takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lansky tries a head kick but it misses.
Rodriguez counters with a body kick.
Lansky shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Rodriguez counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Rodriguez throws a leg kick which misses Lansky's front leg but catches the back leg as Lansky tries to avoid it.
Lansky misses with an attempted mid kick.
Rodriguez throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Lansky shoots in but Rodriguez avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Lansky. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Lansky has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Rodriguez is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Lansky tries to pull guard but Rodriguez won't allow it.
Lansky has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Rodriguez after a bit of a struggle.
Lansky keeps control of Rodriguez as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Lansky is looking to take this one to the mat.

Lansky tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Rodriguez's elbow.
Lansky is working for takedown but Rodriguez is calmly controlling the position for now.

Lansky is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rodriguez defends well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Lansky's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Lansky pushes Rodriguez off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Lansky throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rodriguez thumps Lansky with a low kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Carlos Rodriguez will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Rodriguez lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Lansky backs up against the cage.
Rodriguez lands a jab.
George Lansky is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rodriguez wants to clinch.
Rodriguez connects with a leg kick. Lansky looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Lansky chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Rodriguez can pounce on him.

Lansky clinches up with Rodriguez and pushes him back against the cage.

A nice leg kick lands there from Rodriguez.
Rodriguez fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Lansky looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Lansky misses with an uppercut.
Rodriguez pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A nice inside leg kick there by Rodriguez. That's going to slow Lansky down.

Lansky clinches.
Rodriguez tries a knee to the head but Lansky blocks it.
Rodriguez working aggressively here.
Lansky tries to score a body lock takedown but Rodriguez shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Rodriguez lands a knee to the head.
Lansky is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Lansky breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lansky tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rodriguez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lansky somewhat.

Rodriguez connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Rodriguez fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rodriguez fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Lansky takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lansky takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Rodriguez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Rodriguez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lansky.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Lansky. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lansky shoots in looking for a takedown but Rodriguez manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lansky's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Carlos Rodriguez seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Lansky will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Rodriguez lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

A head kick misses from Rodriguez.
Lansky tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rodriguez swivels and escapes.
Rodriguez swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Rodriguez lands with a hook. Lansky tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Horrible takedown attempt by Lansky or perhaps it was just good defense by Rodriguez, which made it look bad.
Rodriguez works Lansky's body with a nice hook.
Rodriguez feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Lansky's calf.
Lansky has a takedown stuffed.
Rodriguez throws a big counter head kick but Lansky avoids it with no problem.

Lansky forces Rodriguez back against the cage and clinches.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rodriguez stalling in the clinch but Lansky improves position.
Lansky is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Rodriguez to keep the fight standing.
Rodriguez tries a knee to the head but Lansky blocks it.
Rodriguez misses with a hook to the ribs.
Lansky goes for a takedown attempt but Rodriguez pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Lansky tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Rodriguez tries to clinch but Lansky moves out of range.

Lansky forces Rodriguez back against the cage and clinches.
Lansky tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Lansky drops down looking for an ankle pick but Rodriguez pulls his leg out and moves away.

Lansky gets in close and instigates a clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
Carlos Rodriguez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Rodriguez has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
