PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Constantine Kermit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michel Teló (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Teló has chosen Michel Telo - Ai se eu te pego as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Michel Teló was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Constantine Kermit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Michel Teló!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Teló misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kermit.
Teló slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Teló wants to slow Kermit down by chopping away at his legs.
Kermit was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Teló has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Kermit is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Teló scores with the left hand. Kermit knows he should have avoided that one.
Kermit throws a body punch but Teló moves out of range.
Kermit backing away here, and Teló unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Teló tests Kermit's chin there with a solid looking shot.

It looks like Constantine Kermit has been cut.
Kermit misses with a kick to the body

and Teló counters with a takedown into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Teló wants to control but Kermit is keeping him busy.
Kermit's coaches at The Studio have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

Kermit avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Teló.

Teló is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kermit knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Teló is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kermit sees it coming and defends easily.

Teló is working for a submission of some sort.
Kermit slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Teló trying to control the position from guard on top but Kermit is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Teló stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kermit swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Teló drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kermit manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Teló has Kermit in his guard.

Kermit not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Kermit's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Kermit avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Kermit throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Teló wants to sweep here but Kermit controlling him for the moment.
Teló is trying to keep Kermit in close.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kermit is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Teló wants to sweep here but Kermit controlling him for the moment.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Teló thuds a left hand into Kermit's body.

Teló feints a counter leg kick.
Teló's jab looks to have found its range, popping Kermit under the eye.
Teló lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Kermit throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Teló takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Crunch! Kermit slams his shin into Teló's torso.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Teló, as that shot connected.
Kermit throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Teló shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kermit is trying to defend but Teló finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kermit wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Teló is working for a submission of some sort.

Teló is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kermit has managed to free his arm - good work.

Kermit tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kermit can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Teló controls the pace.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Teló has gone for a leg lock! Kermit slips out almost immediately though and dives into Teló's guard.

and Teló decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kermit's guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Michel Teló showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Kermit's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Kermit with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Teló to score with a decent uppercut.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Teló crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Kermit - the referee stops the clock and Teló gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Kermit. Teló manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Kermit tries to land a front kick but Teló steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kermit throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Teló stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Kermit is looking to wear down Teló with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

and Kermit makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Michel Teló seems to be getting the better of the standup.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Teló fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kermit.

And Teló tries to counter it with a takedown but Kermit pushes his down on his head and steps out.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Constantine Kermit.
Well Teló has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
