PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Koba Wyatt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Li (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wyatt's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Keep it Mello. Li has chosen 2pac - hit em up as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Koba Wyatt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Li!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Li shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Wyatt as he avoids it easily.
It looked like Wyatt was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Li dips to his left and cracks Wyatt with an uppercut!

Li bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Wyatt! He dives into his guard looking to finish!

Wyatt is rocked!

It looks like Koba Wyatt has been cut.

Li postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Wyatt is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Li, into his guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Li is working an open guard so Wyatt takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Wyatt stuffs the takedown attempt from Li. Li gets slowly back to his feet.
Wyatt fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
No joy there for Wyatt, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Li doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Wyatt counters with a stiff right hand.
Koba Wyatt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Li.
Li moves out of range of the body kick from Wyatt.
It seemed like Li was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wyatt throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Li stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Wyatt lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Li backs up against the cage.
Wyatt stuffs the takedown attempt from Li. Li gets slowly back to his feet.
Wyatt seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
A punch lands to the side of Li 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Wyatt lands a brutal uppercut that launches Li off his feet! Li tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Koba Wyatt!
In his post fight interview, Koba Wyatt started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
