Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ajai Hoo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keiichi Yamada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Keiichi Yamada has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Ajai Hoo's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ajai Hoo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 14 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Keiichi Yamada!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yamada throws a leg kick but Hoo sees it coming and checks it nicely.
The fighters circling - Yamada throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Hoo's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Yamada connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Hoo scrambles back to his feet.
Yamada lands with a good body shot.
Yamada looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Hoo tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Hoo moves out of range as Yamada throws a body kick.
Hoo feinted with a counter takedown.

Yamada punishes Hoo's body with a nice straight punch.

Yamada doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Good work by Hoo as he checks the leg kick.
Yamada displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hoo throws out the jab.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Hoo.
Yamada lands with an overhand left.
Hoo steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Yamada. That one must have hurt.
Yamada dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Yamada throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hoo was covering up waiting for the punch and Yamada finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Yamada tries to free his leg and advance position but Hoo is retaining full guard.

Hoo is really struggling to control Yamada but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Hoo is looking for a sweep. Yamada is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

It looked like Hoo was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Yamada.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Yamada changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hoo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Yamada has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Hoo is looking for a sweep.

Hoo tries to bench press Yamada off him but Yamada keeps the position.

Yamada has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
