PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joe Walcott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lance Duterte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duterte comes into a darkened arena with his song building. im just a kid kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duterte misses with a few strikes there.
A right-left combo lands from Walcott.
Walcott's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Walcott duly obliges.
Duterte throws a sloppy head kick and Walcott moves out of range easily.
Walcott jabs Duterte to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Duterte walks into a stiff left hand from Walcott.
Walcott's corner calls for a 1-2. Walcott obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Walcott throws a nice outside leg kick.
Walcott buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Walcott connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Duterte's hands.

Duterte takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Duterte tries a head kick but it misses.

The fighters circling - Duterte throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Walcott is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Walcott buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Walcott looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Walcott paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Walcott cracks Duterte with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Duterte throws a hook but Walcott blocks it.
Duterte takes a jab right on the kisser.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Walcott drops Duterte with a beautiful combination! Duterte stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Walcott is looking for the KO!

Duterte is rocked!

Duterte is still on wobbly legs! Can Walcott finish him?
Duterte walks straight into a right hand from Walcott - that's dropped him! Walcott jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Duterte from any more punishment! Duterte complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
