Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gerry Kelly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kimo Ovaska (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kelly comes to the cage accompanied by Alternative Ulster - SLF. Ovaska has chosen Big Balls by AC/DC as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kimo Ovaska!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Colin Fotheringham and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ovaska throws a big shot that misses.
Kelly throws a counter high kick but Ovaska was just alert enough to avoid it.
Kelly slips a straight right by Ovaska.
Kelly throws a body punch but Ovaska moves out of range.
Kelly pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kelly lands a head kick. Ovaska smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Ovaska takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Ovaska bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Gerry Kelly seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Some bone on bone action there as Ovaska checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Kelly feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

We've been hearing good reports from Kelly's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Kelly can't find room to land a body shot as Ovaska controls the action.
Ovaska is looking to control Kelly's arms but Kelly gets an underhook and turns him. Now Ovaska has his back to the cage.
Kelly lands a nice uppercut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kelly accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ovaska is trying to push Kelly away but Kelly has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well Kelly has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
