PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sam Blake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Irwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blake kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is blink 182 feeling this. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sam Blake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Irwin!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, John Mangel and Chris Dean.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Irwin fails with a takedown attempt.

Blake clinches up against the cage.

Blake breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Blake has closed the distance and engaged Irwin in a clinch.
Irwin drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A nice left hand lands by Blake.
Irwin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Blake breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jab, jab by Blake - just one landing.

Blake rushes Irwin and presses him up against the cage.
Blake tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Blake's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Irwin tightens his grip and picks Blake up, before dumping him to the ground. Blake manages to land in guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Irwin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Irwin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Irwin drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Irwin seems to have locked his on tight now - Blake screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Irwin, as he picks up the win!
