PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Toshi Matoshin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Spencer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matoshin's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Mortal Kombat theme. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Toshi Matoshin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Spencer!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Phil Schofield and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matoshin throws a looping overhand right but Spencer ducks down to avoid it.
Matoshin throws a head kick but Spencer moves out of range.
Spencer connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close round but I would say that Toshi Matoshin will probably get the nod.

Spencer fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Spencer dives in and grabs Matoshin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Matoshin pushes down on Spencer's head and hops out.

Spencer tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Matoshin defends well and Spencer ends up having to push Matoshin into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Spencer shoots in looking for a takedown. Matoshin tries to sprawl out of it but Spencer keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Matoshin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Matoshin moves out of range as Spencer strikes.
Matoshin tests Spencer's chin there with a solid looking shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Spencer might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Some bone on bone action there as Spencer checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Matoshin seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Matoshin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
