The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fertus misses with an uppercut.
Jelani looks to land a combination. Fertus sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Jelani shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Jelani throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Fertus unleashes a big counter combination but Jelani bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Fertus slaps away a takedown attempt from Jelani, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Fertus avoids a punch combination nicely.
A countering left hand to the body from Fertus misses.

Jelani shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Fertus's guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Jelani is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Fertus doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jelani.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jelani thows a huge punch but Fertus dodges it nicely.

and Jelani counters with a three punch combo that has Fertus backing up. Fertus nods at Jelani to acknowledge the strikes.

Jelani avoids a punch combination nicely.

Jelani shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Fertus as he jumps to the side.

Jabari Jelani seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fertus feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Jelani sprawling to the canvas! Jelani rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Fertus finish him?!

A less than humble Mike Fertus misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
