Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sparring Fighter 1 (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and TJ Welsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fighter 1 comes to the cage accompanied by Lou Reed - The day John Kennedy Died. Welsh has chosen Lets Have A War as his entrance music. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sparring Fighter 1!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 26 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, TJ Welsh!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Welsh misses with a takedown attempt - Fighter 1 sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Welsh looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Fighter 1!

Fighter 1 explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Fighter 1 manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Welsh on his heels. He'll look to pass Welsh's guard now, I'm sure.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fighter 1 is fighting to break Welsh's control of his arms but Welsh is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Welsh pushes Fighter 1 off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Fighter 1 moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Fighter 1 manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Welsh on his heels. He'll look to pass Welsh's guard now, I'm sure.
Welsh is trying to keep Fighter 1 in close.

Fighter 1 not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Fighter 1 stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Fighter 1 fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Welsh sprawls well initially but Fighter 1 persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Fighter 1 stands up out of the half guard.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Fighter 1 manages to break the clinch.

Welsh takes the fight into the clinch.
Welsh takes a knee to the side of the body.
A hook to the body from Fighter 1.
Fighter 1 misses with a knee strike.
Fighter 1 scores with a shot to the side of Welsh's head.
Welsh takes an elbow to the forehead.


It looks like TJ Welsh has been cut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Welsh lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Nice elbow from Fighter 1.
Welsh landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Welsh jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Fighter 1 walks away with a smile on his face. Welsh gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Fighter 1 closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Fighter 1 breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Welsh darts in looking for a takedown but Fighter 1 gets double underhooks and turns Welsh into the cage.
Sparring Fighter 1 has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of TJ Welsh.

Fighter 1 closes the distance and clinches.

Fighter 1 breaks the clinch.
Fighter 1 is looking to slow Welsh down with leg kicks.

Fighter 1 decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Fighter 1 slows the pace down in half guard.
Fighter 1 passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Welsh!

Fighter 1 is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Welsh shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Fighter 1 as he jumps to the side.

Fighter 1 tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Welsh misses with a knee strike.
Fighter 1 lands a nice shot to the body.

Fighter 1's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Fighter 1 drives through with a takedown into Welsh's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Fighter 1 trying to move into half guard but instead Welsh has managed to sweep!


Fighter 1 is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fighter 1 is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Welsh presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fighter 1 tries to land knees in the clinch but Welsh avoids the damage to the body.
Welsh tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

A right handed body shot lands from Fighter 1.

Fighter 1 comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Fighter 1 presses Welsh against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

A right hook to the body lands for Fighter 1.
Welsh looks winded!
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Fighter 1 pushes Welsh back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Fighter 1 lands a shoulder strike.
Fighter 1 lands with a short shot to the head.


Welsh is rocked!
Fighter 1 lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Welsh is still on wobbly legs! Can Fighter 1 finish him?
Welsh putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Fighter 1 in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sparring Fighter 1 dominated that round.
The cut man is working on TJ Welsh's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Fighter 1 escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
This has been an exciting period of action!

A nice right hand lands inside from Fighter 1.
Fighter 1 swings wildly with an uppercut but Welsh uses good head movement to avoid it.

Welsh misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Fighter 1.
Fighter 1 tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Fighter 1 just misses with a elbow thrown towards Welsh's brow.
Welsh connects with a knee to the head.
Fighter 1 lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Fighter 1 is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Welsh can do to turn this around?
Welsh misses with a body punch.
Fighter 1 lands with a light punch inside.
Fighter 1 lands with a short punch from the clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Welsh fails to land.
Welsh throws a knee to the head but misses.
Sparring Fighter 1 has scored more points in the clinch so far.

Fighter 1 pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Fighter 1 has taken the fight to the clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Fighter 1 creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Welsh is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Fighter 1 is defending well for now.

Welsh closes the distance and pushes Fighter 1 back into the cage.
Welsh tries to pull guard but Fighter 1 holds him up against the cage and eventually Welsh drops back down to his feet.
Welsh is breathing heavily.
Fighter 1 lands a shoulder strike.

Fighter 1 breaks the clinch.

Fighter 1 clinches.
Fighter 1 lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Welsh just leaning against Fighter 1, taking a breather.

Fighter 1 pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Fighter 1 closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Fighter 1 works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fighter 1 has the Thai clinch. He lands a big knee to the head that stumbles Welsh - he's in trouble! Another big knee to the head from Fighter 1, and another! Welsh is out on his feet - the ref jumps in to save him and ends the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Sparring Fighter 1!
