Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Van Pol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shinya Aoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aoki with a lazy takedown attempt
and Pol counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Aoki takes one on the chin but seems OK.

It looks like Shinya Aoki has been cut.
Aoki ducks under a wild hook from Pol.
Aoki walks forward, straight into a front kick from Pol.
Aoki cracks Pol with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Aoki moves forwards but Pol connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Aoki tries for a takedown but Pol sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Aoki tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pol swivels and escapes.
Van Pol has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shinya Aoki .
Pol digs a good body shot into Aoki 's ribs.
Pol tries a head kick but it misses.
Pol throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Aoki is rocked!
Pol lands an uppercut, right on the button! Aoki tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.
