Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joseph Duffy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Buddy Elf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buddy Elf is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joseph Duffy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Buddy Elf!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Illya Tyunina and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duffy slaps away a takedown attempt from Elf, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Elf closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Elf seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Duffy holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Elf wants to control but Duffy is keeping him busy.

Elf decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Duffy has taken the fight to the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Elf throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Duffy blocks it with crossed arms.

Elf jumps guard but Duffy turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Elf lands with a right to the head.

Duffy breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Duffy shoots in looking for a takedown. Elf tries to sprawl out of it but Duffy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Elf manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Elf changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Duffy tries to avoid it but Elf manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Duffy to the ground. Duffy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Duffy thinks about countering with a head kick.
Joseph Duffy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Buddy Elf.

Duffy fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Elf, pushing him back against the cage.

Duffy pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Duffy tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Elf defends well and Duffy ends up having to push Elf into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Elf moves into range and clinches up with Duffy.

Elf's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Elf will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

and Elf counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Elf.

Elf decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Duffy, up you get!

Duffy prevents a takedown attempt there.
Duffy tries to circle away but Elf has him pinned against the cage.

Elf is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Elf is pushing Duffy up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Elf jumps guard but Duffy turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

A telegraphed right hand from Duffy misses the target.
Elf unleashes a big counter combination but Duffy bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Duffy closes the distance and pushes Elf back into the cage.

Duffy's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Elf is trying to hold Duffy in close to prevent damage but Duffy has managed to pass into half guard.

Elf is looking for a sweep. Duffy is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Duffy is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Elf can do to turn this around?

Duffy is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Elf throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Duffy's waist but Duffy gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Elf off to one side.

Elf is trying to drag Duffy to the mat but Duffy just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Elf tries to score a power double leg takedown but Duffy sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Elf somewhat.

Elf bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
