Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jari Suomalainen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Eliseo Duncan!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Igor Prikhodko and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duncan swings widly with a right hand
enabling Suomalainen to counter with a crisp jab.
Suomalainen definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Suomalainen throws a hook but Duncan blocks it.
Eliseo Duncan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Duncan closes the distance looking to clinch
letting Suomalainen counter with a right hand.
Duncan moves to clinch but Suomalainen breaks away
and Suomalainen counters with a nice uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Duncan darts in trying to clinch
and Suomalainen cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Duncan bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Duncan closes the distance looking to clinch
enabling Suomalainen to counter with a crisp jab.
Duncan drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Duncan is rocked!
The fighters circling - Suomalainen throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Suomalainen swats away the attempt to clinch by Duncan.
Duncan seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Suomalainen shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Duncan is backing up but Suomalainen catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Duncan covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Suomalainen Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jari Suomalainen!
