PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bruno Aires (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Kroblur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bruno Aires!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Matt Kroblur!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Atkins and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kroblur shoots in for a takedown but Aires shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Aires takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Kroblur uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Aires.
Aires throws a front kick that sends Kroblur stumbling back into the cage.
Kroblur throws a chopping leg kick but Aires manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Aires quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

Kroblur drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Aires looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Aires looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kroblur is one step ahead there.

Kroblur is fighting to break Aires's control of his arms but Aires is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Kroblur has Aires up against the cage in a clinch.
Aires presses Kroblur against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Aires is pressed up against the cage. Kroblur has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Aires down to the mat. Aires avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Kroblur connects with a leg kick. Aires looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Aires is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kroblur's half guard.

We've been hearing that Aires has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Kroblur has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Aires is working away from the top position though.
Aires wants to control but Kroblur is keeping him busy.
Aires slips a nice elbow through Kroblur's hands, connecting with Kroblur's forehead.

Kroblur wants to improve his position but Aires is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Aires landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Kroblur manages to get to full guard.
Kroblur keeping moving, preventing Aires from controlling successfully.

Kroblur is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Aires defends well.

Aires throws an elbow that misses. Kroblur uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Aires's guard. Nice move by Kroblur!

Aires has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Kroblur has passed into side control.
Aires is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Aires works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Kroblur takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Kroblur gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Aires counters with a good low kick that Kroblur was not able to check.
Aires tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kroblur was well out of range. Poor timing from Aires.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Kroblur! But no joy.

Aires escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Aires lands an overhand right.
Kroblur connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Aires lunges at Kroblur with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Kroblur's hand.
Kroblur takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Aires ducks under a wild hook from Kroblur.
A cross from Aires lands.
Kroblur throws out a leg kick but Aires moves out of range and Kroblur only half commits.
Aires swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kroblur fails in his attempt to clinch.
A big left from Aires misses.
Kroblur dives in for a single leg takedown but Aires sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Aires throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kroblur was covering up waiting for the punch and Aires finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kroblur throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Aires escapes and throws Kroblur's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Aires has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Bruno Aires is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Aires lands a nice shot to the head.
Kroblur is in all sorts of trouble here.
Aires takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Well Aires has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
