The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cartwright.
Hays throws a sloppy head kick and Cartwright moves out of range easily.

Cartwright clinches.
Hays is trying to force a seperation but Cartwright has the dominant position.
Hays lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Hays pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hays shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Hays lands a jab to Cartwright's midsection.
Hays works the jab nicely.
Hays throws a chopping leg kick but Cartwright manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Hays throws a right and a left that both miss.
Cartwright fails with an attempt to clinch.
Micah Hays seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hays connects with an inside leg kick.

Hays rushes Cartwright and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Cartwright is trying to pull guard but Hays turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Hays lands a hook to the side of the head.

Cartwright has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hays uses from the top position.

Hays is sitting in close to Cartwright's body. Cartwright has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Hays is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Hays is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Cartwright.
