PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Derfel Cadarn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lexington Snape (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cadarn kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Saxon. Snape has chosen DJ Tiësto - Carmina Burana: Remixed as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Derfel Cadarn has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cadarn throws a body shot but no joy.

Snape clinches.
Cadarn has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Snape misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Cadarn tries a body shot but Snape blocks it.
Cadarn scores with a nice hook to the head.
Cadarn managing to block the knees to the body from Snape.
Cadarn wants to break free but Snape has control.

Cadarn pulls guard effortlessly.

Cadarn looking for a guillotine here but Snape defends easily.
Cadarn is breathing heavily.
Snape wants to get up but he can't break Cadarn's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Snape decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Snape is looking to clinch.
A combination from Cadarn does no damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cadarn throws a hook but Snape blocks it.
Cadarn circles away from the clinch attempt.
Cadarn misses with an uppercut. Snape saw that one coming.
Snape tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cadarn paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Snape counters by moving into the clinch.
Snape tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Cadarn avoids it.

Cadarn jumps guard and drags Snape to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Snape wants to stand but Cadarn is controlling his posture from full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cadarn has his foot on Snape's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Snape works his way back into a safe position though.

Snape avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Snape passes Cadarn's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Cadarn is looking to improve his position.
Cadarn is working hard here to advance position.

Snape wants to work for an arm triangle but Cadarn is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Cadarn regains full guard. Nicely done.
Snape trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Cadarn will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Snape is posturing up here but Cadarn has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Snape tries to roll out but it's too tight and Snape has to tap! Slick submission there by Cadarn!
