PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Ellison Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Ellison Jr might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to i aint never scared. Liddell is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by It's Dark and Hell Is Hot. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Anthony Ellison Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 35 - 50 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chuck Liddell!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Daniel Blasius and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Liddell closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Ellison Jr tries to land knees in the clinch but Liddell avoids the damage to the body.
Liddell lands an elbow just above Ellison Jr 's eye.
Ellison Jr fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Ellison Jr lands with a light punch inside.

Ellison Jr escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
An inside leg kick lands from Liddell.
Ellison Jr tries to score a power double leg takedown but Liddell sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ellison Jr somewhat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ellison Jr clinches.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ellison Jr jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Liddell walks away with a smile on his face. Ellison Jr gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anthony Ellison Jr. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Liddell shoots in and gets a takedown into Ellison Jr's guard.

Liddell drops back looking for a leg! Ellison Jr is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ellison Jr manages to kick Liddell off! Liddell jumps back into Ellison Jr's guard.

Ellison Jr is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Liddell to keep the fight standing.

Liddell breaks from the clinch.
Liddell fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Ellison Jr has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Liddell fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Ellison Jr tries to land knees in the clinch but Liddell avoids the damage to the body.

Ellison Jr is trying to break the clinch but Liddell is controlling him.

Ellison Jr throws a punch but it's blocked by Liddell.

Liddell has clasped his hands together around Ellison Jr's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Liddell stands up and beckons Ellison Jr to his feet.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Liddell jumps guard and drags Ellison Jr to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Liddell has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Let's hope that Liddell has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

With the fighters up against the cage, Ellison Jr throws an elbow but misses.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Ellison Jr tries to stall but Liddell uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Ellison Jr seems a little flustered. He's come in with the intention of controlling the clinch but Liddell is preventing him from doing so, at least for the moment.

Ellison Jr tries to pull guard but Liddell holds him up against the cage and eventually Ellison Jr drops back down to his feet.

Liddell blocks an uppercut.
Ellison Jr tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Liddell avoids it.

Liddell breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Liddell dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Ellison Jr. That did some damage!

Ellison Jr wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
The referee calls for Ellison Jr to work.
Ellison Jr wants to get back to striking at distance but Liddell won't allow it.
Ellison Jr throws an elbow but it misses.
Ellison Jr stalling in the clinch but Liddell improves position.
Ellison Jr is looking to control Liddell's arms but Liddell gets an underhook and turns him. Now Ellison Jr has his back to the cage.
Ellison Jr can't seem to implement his control oriented gameplan at the moment. That's no bad thing of course, for those of us who want to see a good fight.

Ellison Jr changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Liddell fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Liddell seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Liddell wants to work for an arm triangle but Ellison Jr is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Liddell is working for a kimura here but Ellison Jr manages to reverse the position and he's now in Liddell's guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Liddell looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ellison Jr is one step ahead there.

Chuck Liddell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Ellison Jr throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Liddell keeps control of Ellison Jr as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Liddell ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Liddell no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Ellison Jr wants to stand and escape but instead Liddell has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Liddell is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Ellison Jr knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Liddell on the ground.
Liddell uses his free foot to push down on Ellison Jr's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ellison Jr.
Ellison Jr is wriggling around trying to escape.

Liddell gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Liddell feints and then cracks Ellison Jr's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Ellison Jr down.
Ellison Jr doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Liddell counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Anthony Ellison Jr has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Liddell lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Liddell is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Liddell content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Liddell's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Liddell is looking to pass Ellison Jr's guard but actually Ellison Jr recovers to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Liddell forces his way into half guard.

Liddell seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Ellison Jr is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
