PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gus Bradley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yas Uru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gus Bradley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yas Uru!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bradley rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Uru moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
It seemed like Uru was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Bradley throws a head kick that misses.
Bradley rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Bradley takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Bradley throws a lazy head kick
and Uru counters with a low kick, right behind Bradley 's knee.
Bradley moves to clinch but Uru breaks away
and Uru counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Bradley has taken the fight to the clinch.
Bradley creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Uru is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Bradley is defending well.
Bradley throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Bradley pushes off an throws an elbow but Uru leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the ropes.
Bradley gets underhooks to prevent Uru's takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Uru tries to score a body lock takedown but Bradley shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Gus Bradley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yas Uru.
Uru changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Bradley fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Bradley pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Uru cracks Bradley with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Bradley moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bradley misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Uru lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Bradley throws a head kick that misses.
Bradley throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Uru counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Uru connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Bradley tries to clinch but Uru moves away
letting Uru counter with a right hand.

Bradley gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Uru tries to free his leg and advance position but Bradley is retaining full guard.
Uru won't allow Bradley to sweep him here.
Uru told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Bradley is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Uru trying to control but Bradley is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Uru pushes down on Bradley's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Bradley wants to control but Uru is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Uru is looking for a kimura but Bradley is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Uru to get the leverage.

Uru is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bradley is just riding it out for now. Uru eventually gives up the hold.
Uru is looking to advance position but Bradley won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Uru prevents Bradley from standing back up.

Uru is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Bradley is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Yas Uru!
