PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Peter Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lewis Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Peter Parker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lewis Scott!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Scott fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Parker, pushing him back against the cage.
Scott tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Parker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Parker lands a right hook to the body.
Scott on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Scott throws a series of strikes that have Parker backpedaling.
Parker looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Parker lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Parker instigates a clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Scott misses with the head strike.
Scott lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
I was talking to Parker's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Parker ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Parker no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Scott accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Scott slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Scott postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Parker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Scott looking to sit in guard and control but Parker gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Parker wants to get up but he can't break Scott's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Parker sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Scott's guard.
Scott is not content to let Parker control the position.
Scott is looking for a sweep. Parker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Scott has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Parker wants to stand up but Scott has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Parker is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Scott regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Parker.
Scott is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Parker is controlling him.
Scott is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Parker gets to his feet. Scott looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Scott tries to close the distance and clinch up but Parker swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Parker looks to land a combination but Scott avoids it well.
Scott tries a head kick but it misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Parker pushes Scott up against the cage in a clinch.
Scott misses with a short punch on the inside.
Scott throws a head punch that misses.
A head punch on the inside from Scott fails to land.
Scott misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Good body shot from Scott.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Parker.
Scott swings wildly with an uppercut but Parker uses good head movement to avoid it.
Parker is trying to drag Scott to the mat but Scott just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Scott throws a head punch that misses.
Parker jumps guard but Scott stands there with Parker around his waist. Parker gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Parker tries to pull guard but Scott holds him up against the cage and eventually Parker drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Peter Parker. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A head punch on the inside from Scott fails to land.
Parker blocks an uppercut.

Parker breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Parker thows a leg kick but Scott checks it
and Scott counters with a one-two to the body.
Scott takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Parker scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Parker throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Parker swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Lewis Scott is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A head kick misses from Scott.
Parker lands with a slapping head kick.
Parker scores with a leg kick.
Scott tries to close the distance and clinch but Parker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Scott fails in his attempt to clinch.
Parker stuns Scott with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Parker dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Parker gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
letting Scott counter with a right hand.
The fight stays on the outside here - Parker looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Scott throws a body shot but no joy.
Scott slaps away a takedown attempt from Parker, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Scott with a body punch. A glancing blow.
A leg kick checked by Scott.
Peter Parker is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Parker tries to land a body kick
and Scott makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Parker really felt that one!
Parker tries a head kick but it misses.
Scott looks like he wants to counter punch here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Scott thuds his right hand into Parker's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Scott is looking to clinch.
Parker is looking to counter punch.
Parker throws a nice outside leg kick.
Scott connects with a high kick.
Parker shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Scott defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Peter Parker. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Scott connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Parker tumbling to the canvas! Scott pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Parker was done - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:12 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Lewis Scott!
Lewis Scott decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
