Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cormac Gutz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Hale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gutz comes to the cage accompanied by Everyday. Hale has chosen Dead Sara - Weatherman as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 20 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cormac Gutz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Brandon Hale!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Steve Montenegro and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hale tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gutz was well out of range. Poor timing from Hale.
Gutz takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Brandon Hale seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hale lands with a right hand.
Hale avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Hale throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Gutz throwing a counter right hand but Hale manages to avoid it.
Gutz scores with a jab.
Gutz lands a nice shot that snaps Hale's head back.
Hale throws an overhand right that lands on Gutz's shoulder, as Gutz tries to avoid the shot.
Gutz went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Hale avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Hale jumps guard but Gutz turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

A clash of legs there as Gutz blocks the low kick.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gutz wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Some bone on bone action there as Hale checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
We've been told by Gutz's head coaches at Gutz Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Gutz connects with a body shot that sends Hale's belly button to the back.
Gutz bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Gutz misses with an attempted mid kick.

Gutz is looking to clinch but Hale is avoiding it.
A slow jab from Gutz misses its intended target.
Hale throws the left hand but Gutz avoids the punch easily.
Gutz feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Hale's calf.
Gutz slips a jab from Hale.
Gutz throws a leg kick but Hale checks it.
Hale keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hale drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Gutz defends it well.
Gutz pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hale uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gutz.
And Hale tries to counter it with a takedown but Gutz pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Hale dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Gutz's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Hale connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Gutz scrambles back to his feet.
Hale ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gutz throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Hale buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Gutz takes one to the side of the head.
Gutz ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hale moves away.

No joy there for Gutz, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hale checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Hale throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Gutz on the side of the head.

Gutz lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Hale lands a nice hook to Gutz's body. Gutz takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Hale connects with a looping right hand.
Hale misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Gutz.
Gutz is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Gutz takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Hale lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Gutz at a distance.
Hale tries to work over Gutz's front leg with a kick but Gutz checks it.
Hale tries to land a leg kick but Gutz saw it coming and moves away.

Gutz on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Hale. Hale obviously looking to wear him down.
Gutz needs to keep his hands up - Hale had a free shot at his head there.
Gutz lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Gutz throws a shot from downtown. Hale moves away and avoids it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hale cracks Gutz with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Hale feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Gutzs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Hale shoots in looking for a takedown but Gutz manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hale's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Hale fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Gutz on the side of the head.
Gutz tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
An inside leg kick from Hale misses.
Hale connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Hale throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Hale.
Cormac Gutz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Hale misses with a hook from the clinch.
Hale swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Hale misses with a hook to the ribs.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Cormac Gutz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That's seven minutes gone in the round.
Gutz blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Hale jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gutz walks away with a smile on his face. Hale gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Cormac Gutz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brandon Hale.
Hale goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Hale motions for Gutz to come forward. Hale throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Hale takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Gutz scores with a push kick.
Hale takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Hale thuds his shin into the meat of Gutz's side.
Hale comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Well,Gutz is on his way to losing a decision here. Can he use his experience to pull something off in the closing minutes?
Hale is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Gutz slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Hale keeps Gutz at a distance using the push kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Gutz takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Gutz swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
And Hale tries to counter it with a takedown but Gutz pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Hale throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Gutz is breathing heavily.
Gutz pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hale with the counter takedown but Gutz avoids it easily.
A nice leg kick lands there from Hale.
The fight stays on the outside here - Gutz looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Hale missing with a left hand there. Gutz was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Hale has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

Hale throws a nice outside leg kick.
Hale walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Gutz is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Hale fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Gutz has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Brandon Hale comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Hale has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In his post fight interview, Brandon Hale started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
