Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Scott Keene (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kurobi Kanji (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Scott Keene!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kurobi Kanji!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Keene lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Kanji takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Keene scores with a shot to the body.
A jab from Keene does it's job there.

Kanji closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Keene to the mat! Keene manages to get full guard.
Keene on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Keene tries to get out of the position.
Kanji works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Kanji wants to take a breather but Keene is having none of it.

Kanji is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Keene is just riding it out for now. Kanji eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Kanji is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Keene has managed to free his arm - good work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Keene is defending against the submission attempts here by Kanji.

Kanji has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Kanji working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Keene defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Kanji.
Keene is desperately trying to improve his position but Kanji has a good base and remains in mount.
Keene reaches up and holds on to Kanji to control the position.
Kanji trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Kanji is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Kanji prevents Keene from getting the reversal.

Kanji goes for an armbar but Keene turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Keene.
Keene wants to control from the top but Kanji keeps moving.
Keene is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at LOD - Slaughterhouse that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Keene tries to stand but Kanji is controlling from the bottom.

Keene engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Kanji looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Kanji has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Keene can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Keene controlling from the top position.
Keene wants to control from the top but Kanji keeps moving.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kanji tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Scott Keene will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Kanji shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Keene is trying to defend but Kanji finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Kanji is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Keene sees it coming and defends easily.

Kanji is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Keene has managed to free his arm - good work.
Keene is looking to get back to is feet but Kanji passes into side control.
Keene wants to get back to his feet but Kanji is dominant here and he's now got Keene's back!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Keene is trying to stand back up.

Kanji is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Kanji is looking for a rear naked choke here but Keene reverses the position brilliantly into Kanji's guard!

Keene wanted to stand there but Kanji had control of the position.
Kurobi Kanji has got the better of the ground game so far.
Keene is stalling in the full guard.
Kanji bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Keene's guard.

Kanji trying to control but Keene is working from the bottom.
Kanji is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Kanji stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Keene swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kanji wants to control from the top but Keene keeps moving.

Kanji postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Keene is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kanji, into his guard.

Kanji looking for a sweep. Not yet Kanji, not yet.
Kanji keeps trying to improve his position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Keene wants to stand but Kanji is controlling his posture from full guard.
Kanji looking for a sweep. Not yet Kanji, not yet.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Keene postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kanji tries to score a power double leg takedown but Keene sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kanji somewhat.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Kanji throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Keene was covering up waiting for the punch and Kanji finishes the takedown easily into guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kurobi Kanji showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Keene's corner calls for a 1-2. Keene obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Kanji on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.


It looks like Kurobi Kanji has been cut.
Keene lands a nice hook to Kanji's body. Kanji takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Keene scores with a nice right hand.
Kanji's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Keene connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Kanji scrambles back to his feet.
Keene jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kanji shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Keene but Keene pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kanji takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Keene is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Kanji looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Keene is fending him off so far but Kanji persists. Nope, Keene circles away and we're back to standing.
Kanji shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Keene as he jumps to the side.
A quick step to the side and Keene tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Scott Keene has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kurobi Kanji.
Kanji gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Keene connects with a crisp jab.
Kanji fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Keene scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.


That has opened up Kurobi Kanji's cut even more.
Keene misses the jab.
Horrible takedown attempt by Kanji or perhaps it was just good defense by Keene, which made it look bad.
Keene lands a jab to the head.
Kanji shoots in for a takedown but Keene shows good takedown defense.
Kurobi Kanji is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Keene works Kanji's body with a nice hook.
Keene dips to his left and cracks Kanji with an uppercut!
A bone on bone clash there as Keene blocks the leg kick.
Scott Keene is winning the standup battle so far.
Keene thuds his right hand into Kanji's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Kanji walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Kanji takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Kanji changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Keene tries to avoid it but Kanji manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Keene to the ground. Keene escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Keene is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Kanji takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Kanji tries to score a power double leg takedown but Keene sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kanji somewhat.
Keene was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Keene is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Kanji shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Keene sprawls well. Keene wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kanji gets slowly back to his feet.
Kanji closes the distance and clinches up with Keene, looking for a takedown. Kanji pushes Keene against the ropes but Keene circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Keene is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kanji can do to turn this around?

Kanji shoots for a takedown but Keene saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Keene is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Keene is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Kanji is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Keene bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Kanji's head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kanji has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Keene finds it's way round the side to connect with Kanji's head.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kanji tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Keene defends well and Kanji ends up having to push Keene into the ropes where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Kanji shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Keene lands with a hook. Kanji tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Kurobi Kanji has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
