Slyker has chosen It's Amazing by Kanye West as his entrance music. Cain Slyker has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Martez Cortega's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 39 - 40 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cain Slyker!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Josh West and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cortega pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

The fighters circling - Cortega throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

We've been hearing good reports from Cortega's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Cortega has Slyker pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Cortega pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Slyker tumbling to the mat - Cortega dives into Slyker's guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close round but I would say that Martez Cortega will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

We've been informed that Slyker has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Cain Slyker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Cortega connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.


It looks like Cain Slyker has been cut.
Slyker takes one on the chin but seems OK.


Slyker is rocked!

Cortega closes the distance looking for a takedown. Cortega picks Slyker up and slams him brutally to the floor. Slyker is out! He's out cold! Wow, you don't see a finish like that every day!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Slam). Martez Cortega!
A very excited looking Martez Cortega made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
