Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Simon Carlsen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cleon Wright!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Aafke Stam and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wright misses the shot to the body.
Carlsen tries to counter with a takedown but Wright is quick to defend against it.
Carlsen seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Carlsen takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
It looks like Simon Carlsen has been cut.
A slow jab from Wright misses its intended target.
Wright's coach down at Lights Out™ ($849 15 Elite Coaches!) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Wright's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Wright waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Carlsen.
Carlsen tries to counter with a takedown but Wright is quick to defend against it.
Carlsen avoids the body shot from Wright.
Carlsen darts in looking for a takedown but Wright gets double underhooks and turns Carlsen into the cage.
Wright looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Nice body punch from Wright.
Wright tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Carlsen was well out of range. Poor timing from Wright.
Carlsen throws a hook to the side of Wright's head but Wright sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Cleon Wright seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wright fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Carlsen is out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wright lands a lovely overhand right.
Wright drops Carlsen with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Carlsen looks back up at him and smiles so Wright waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Carlsen is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wright lands with a precision combination! Left, right, uppercut and Carlsen falls flat on his face, eyes wide open but he's out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Cleon Wright!
