Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Doc Dykstra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jugram Haschwalth!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Daniel Blasius and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haschwalth checks the leg kick nicely there.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Haschwalth! But no joy.
Haschwalth instigates a clinch.
Haschwalth misses with a punch to the body.
Dykstra breaks from the clinch.
Dykstra cracks Haschwalth with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Dykstra has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Haschwalth to stand back up!
It looks like Jugram Haschwalth has been cut.
Haschwalth is looking to clinch.
Haschwalth rushes Dykstra and presses him up against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dykstra manages to break the clinch.
Haschwalth tries to clinch but Dykstra is having none of it.
Haschwalth closes the distance and pushes Dykstra back into the cage.
Haschwalth breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Doc Dykstra seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Haschwalth moves into range and clinches up with Dykstra.
Dykstra breaks from the clinch.
We've been informed that Haschwalth has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Haschwalth moves in looking to clinch but Dykstra pushes him off.
A little feinted left hand from Dykstra on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Jab, jab by Dykstra - just one landing.
The fight stays on the outside here - Haschwalth looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Dykstra looks to score with a jab to the body but Haschwalth is just out of range.
Haschwalth thinks about the counter body kick.
A nice leg kick lands there from Dykstra.
Dykstra lands a big uppercut and Haschwalth crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Haschwalth looks OK. Dykstra waves Haschwalth back to his feet!
Haschwalth is rocked!
Dykstra punishes Haschwalth's body with a nice straight punch.
Haschwalth is still on wobbly legs! Can Dykstra finish him?
Dykstra throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Haschwalth stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dykstra lunges in with a left hook that violently twists Haschwalth head around and knocks him out cold! Dykstra hops onto the cage and yells out at the top of his lungs - Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah! They're showing the replay on the big screens now; that was nasty! I hope one of the photographers got a good shot of it.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Doc Dykstra!
After winning the bout, Doc Dykstra thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
