The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Helgesson makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Helgesson misses with a straight right.
A telegraphed right hand from Helgesson misses the target.
Vidar Helgesson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Helgesson scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Mostert slips under a jab from Helgesson.
Mostert moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Mostert takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Mostert changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Helgesson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Mostert tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Helgesson swivels and escapes.

Mostert closes this distance looking for a takedown but Helgesson circles away.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mostert is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Helgesson has escaped the position, nice work there.
Helgesson felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Mostert throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
What's Helgesson going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
Helgesson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mostert. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Mostert is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Helgesson looks calm but he's in trouble here. Mostert gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Helgesson is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Mostert lets go of the hold and Helgesson can pop his arm back in it's socket.
