Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Billy Dean !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dieter Schmidt!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Paulo Santos and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmidt lands a nice looking body kick.
Schmidt buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Schmidt chopping away at his opponent's legs.
A big head kick from Schmidt and Dean is sent sprawling to the canvas!
Dean is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Schmidt stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dean swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Oh Dean is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Dean is trying to control the position but Schmidt postures up.
Schmidt controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Dean seems to have got his legs back now.
Schmidt stands up and waves to Dean to follow him.
Dean misses with a few strikes there.
Schmidt connects with a solid leg kick.
Schmidt lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Schmidt lands with a thumping leg kick.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Schmidt.
Dieter Schmidt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Schmidt throws a leg kick which misses Dean 's front leg but catches the back leg as Dean tries to avoid it.
Dean tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Dean ducks straight into an uppercut from Schmidt and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Dean manages to regain guard straight away.
Schmidt stands up and waves to Dean to follow him.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Schmidt connects with a solid leg kick.
Dean shoots in but no luck this time.
Dean has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Schmidt.
Dean is breathing heavily.
Crunch! Schmidt slams his shin into Dean 's torso.
Schmidt scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Schmidt throws a powerful right kick. Dean tried to block low but the kick was high! Dean was taken right off of his feet! Schmidt jumps in to finish the job and the ref tackles him! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Dieter Schmidt!
