PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dominic Rude (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don T. Bill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bill. Rude kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Gunslinger. Dominic Rude has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 16 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, Dominic Rude!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Don T. Bill!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rude ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Rude keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Rude jabs at Bill's body.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Bill.
A right-left combo lands from Rude.
Bill shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rude pinned against the cage. Rude gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Dominic Rude has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Don T. Bill.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bill thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.

Rude darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Rude will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Bill is trying to escape the mount.

Rude has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Bill is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Rude pulls his head out easily.

Rude seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bill does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Rude wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bill keeps working.
Rude is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bill can do to turn this around?
Bill is looking to control Rude's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Bill avoid being mounted?

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Bill has his takedown stuffed
and Rude counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Bill has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Rude.
Nice uppercut lands for Rude. That snapped Bill's head back.
Bill shoots for a double leg takedown but Rude sprawls well. He's pushed Bill's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Rude seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bill for as long as he can get away with.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bill is looking for a sweep. Rude is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Rude throws out a powerful jab.

Bill feints the counter takedown.
Bill throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rude's waist but Rude gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bill off to one side.

Rude instigates a clinch.

Rude's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bill walks into a left hand.
A good leg kick by Rude.

Bill gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Rude wants to control from the top but Bill keeps moving.

Rude content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Bill has locked up a guillotine! Bill's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Rude is holding on here and Bill must be using up a lot of energy. Rude has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Bill gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Don T. Bill!
Don T. Bill decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
