PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mikael Lindgren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Brandao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Lindgren might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Come With Me. Brandao is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Work Hard, Play Hard. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Lindgren fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Brandao has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Lindgren lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Brandao has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Brandao and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Lindgren throws a shot from downtown. Brandao moves away and avoids it.

Brandao looks to land a left hand but Lindgren moved out of range nicely.

Brandao is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Lindgren tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Brandao was well out of range. Poor timing from Lindgren.
It seemed like Brandao was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Lindgren lands with an uppercut that bounces Brandao off the cage and back into range.

Brandao wants to counter the offense by Lindgren and move into the clinch position.
Lindgren tries to land a front kick but Brandao steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Brandao crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Lindgren - the referee stops the clock and Brandao gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Lindgren. Brandao manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Lindgren turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Lindgren manages to end up in side control.

You get the feeling that Brandao really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Brandao's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Lindgren is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Brandao has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Mikael Lindgren overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Lindgren lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Brandao regains half guard.
Lindgren has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Lindgren is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Brandao is just riding it out for now. Lindgren eventually gives up the hold.

Lindgren content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Brandao has locked up a guillotine! Brandao's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Lindgren is holding on here and Brandao must be using up a lot of energy. Lindgren has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Brandao gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
