Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Puck Heidegger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Oscar Leopoldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leopoldo is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Requiem for a Dream - Lux Aeterna. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Puck Heidegger!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pedro Oscar Leopoldo!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Heidegger looks to throw the jab but Leopoldo is out of range.

Leopoldo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Leopoldo controls from within his opponent's guard.

Leopoldo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Heidegger has his hands on Leopoldo's head, controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Leopoldo trying to control the position from guard on top but Heidegger is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Heidegger seems keen to control Leopoldo's posture.
Heidegger knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Leopoldo on the ground.
Heidegger continues to stall.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Heidegger fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Leopoldo is out of range.
A swing and a miss from Heidegger.
Leopoldo shoots in for a double leg but Heidegger sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Heidegger swings for the body but Leopoldo moves out of range.
Leopoldo needs to keep his hands up - Heidegger had a free shot at his head there.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Heidegger!


It looks like Pedro Oscar Leopoldo has been cut.
Heidegger leaves Leopoldo with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Leopoldo looking to score a takedown here. Heidegger is defending well but Leopoldo drives through and ends up in Heidegger's guard.
Heidegger pulls Leopoldo in close to prevent any damage.
Leopoldo is looking to work some ground and pound but Heidegger has wrist control.
Heidegger has his hands on Leopoldo's head, controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

My spies in Hells Balls Grappling Academy inform me that Leopoldo has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Leopoldo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Heidegger is keeping the position for now.
Heidegger pulls Leopoldo in close to prevent any damage.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Leopoldo darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Leopoldo throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Heidegger keeping hold of Leopoldo's head, controlling as best he can.
Heidegger has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Leopoldo drops an elbow to the side of Heidegger's head.
Leopoldo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Leopoldo is pressing down on Heidegger's thigh, looking to free his foot. Heidegger is holding on for now.

Leopoldo seems to be looking for submissions.
Heidegger trying to control here.
Leopoldo is looking to take a break and control but Heidegger is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Leopoldo on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Heidegger sends Leopoldo crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Heidegger is motioning to the referee to let Leopoldo up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Leopoldo ducks under a wild hook from Heidegger.

Heidegger drops Leopoldo with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Leopoldo looks back up at him and smiles so Heidegger waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Leopoldo is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Leopoldo looks for a takedown but Heidegger sprawls well.
Heidegger throwing a counter right hand but Leopoldo manages to avoid it.
Leopoldo is still on wobbly legs! Can Heidegger finish him?
No luck with that takedown attempt from Leopoldo.
Leopoldo seems to have recovered his senses.
Puck Heidegger is winning the standup battle so far.
Leopoldo ducks into an uppercut from Heidegger and that's knocked him out cold! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Puck Heidegger!
Puck Heidegger retains his heavyweight title!
