PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ichabod Crane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andr De Fran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Crane comes to the cage accompanied by Way of The Ninja. De Fran comes into a darkened arena with his song building. No Worries kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Andr De Fran was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ichabod Crane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 12 - 2, fighting out of New York, Andr De Fran!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Fran looks to throw the jab but Crane is out of range.
De Fran tries to land a front kick but Crane steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Crane pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Crane missing with a left hand there. De Fran was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
The fighters circling - Crane throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
De Fran tries to land a front kick but Crane steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Crane throws an overhand right that lands on De Fran's shoulder, as De Fran tries to avoid the shot.
De Fran throws a quick inside leg kick.
Crane throws a hook to the side of De Fran's head but De Fran sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Crane tries to move into range but De Fran moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
A big right from Crane misses.
A big left from Crane misses.
Crane lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but De Fran circles away quickly and effectively.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Crane lands the left hand.
Crane throws a right and a left that both miss.
De Fran is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Crane with a body shot.
De Fran looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
De Fran avoids the body shot from Crane.
De Fran fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Crane has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
De Fran misses with a jab, cross combination.
De Fran takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Danga de danga de dang - Crane scores with a four punch combination!


It looks like Andr De Fran has been cut.
De Fran lands a leg kick that knocks Crane off balance momentarily.
Crane throws a nice looking combination but De Fran bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
De Fran throws a fast counter high kick but Crane manages to duck under it in time.
Nice uppercut lands for Crane. That snapped De Fran's head back.
De Fran fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Crane.
De Fran cracks the inside of Crane's front leg.
De Fran is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
De Fran tries to land a front kick but Crane steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
A nice inside leg kick there by De Fran. That's going to slow Crane down.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Crane ducks down and throws a hook to the body but De Fran moves away.

Crane is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Crane throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
De Fran throws a shot to the body.
De Fran misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Crane.
Crane fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. De Fran looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Crane misses with a hook. De Fran ducked under it nicely.
De Fran avoids the body shot from Crane.
Crane sizes up De Fran with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
De Fran throws a series of punches but Crane moves out of range.
Nice defenses there by Crane.
De Fran ducks under a wild hook from Crane.
De Fran has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Crane finds it's way round the side to connect with De Fran's head.
De Fran throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Crane sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Crane throws a body punch but De Fran moves out of range.
De Fran finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
De Fran throws a nice head kick!
De Fran fails to land with a series of punches.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by De Fran.

Crane misses with a wild body shot.
Crane moves out of range of the strikes.
Crane swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Crane tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Crane misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Crane moves out of range of the body kick from De Fran.
De Fran uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Crane.
Crane throws a big shot that misses.

De Fran has taken the fight to the clinch.
De Fran tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Crane avoids it.

Crane manages to break the clinch.
We've been informed that De Fran has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
De Fran uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Crane.
Crane throws a looping overhand right but De Fran ducks down to avoid it.
Crane pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
De Fran keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Crane with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Crane takes a kick to the side of the head.
Nice uppercut lands for Crane. That snapped De Fran's head back.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
That kick from De Fran tenderised Crane's leg. Crane is trying to keep his angry face on.

Crane misses with an uppercut
and De Fran counters with a solid body kick.
De Fran dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Crane. That did some damage!
De Fran looks to land a combination. Crane sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Crane misses with a series of wild punches.
Crane ducks down and throws a hook to the body but De Fran moves away.
A decent looking body kick lands there for De Fran.
Crane rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but De Fran moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
De Fran throws a series of punches but Crane avoids them all with ease.
It looked like Crane wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
De Fran is looking to clinch but Crane is avoiding it.
Crane scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Crane uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Crane is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

De Fran drives through and clinches with Crane against the cage.
De Fran swings wildly with an uppercut but Crane uses good head movement to avoid it.
Crane wants to break free but De Fran has control.
Crane has had enough of the clinch but De Fran keeps him there for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Andr De Fran will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Andr De Fran's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Crane will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
De Fran on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
De Fran lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
De Fran slips under a jab.
De Fran throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Crane rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and De Fran connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
De Fran lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

De Fran misses the body punch
and Crane cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
De Fran lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
The fighters circling - Crane throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from De Fran in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.
De Fran throws the left hand but Crane avoids the punch easily.
Ichabod Crane is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
De Fran avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Crane swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
De Fran scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
De Fran lands a nice shot that snaps Crane's head back.


Crane is rocked!
Crane tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but De Fran was well out of range. Poor timing from Crane.
A punch combination from Crane misses.
Crane swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and De Fran scores with a counter punch that sends Crane to the canvas! De Fran smells blood - he's punishing Crane with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Crane has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Andr De Fran!
