Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Mctanned (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Freddy Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Freddy Steel acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Paul Mctanned!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Freddy Steel!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Chris Saunders and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Mctanned feinted with a counter takedown.
Mctanned slips a straight right by Steel.
Mctanned changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Mctanned avoids the body shot from Steel.
Mctanned feinted with a counter takedown.
Mctanned has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Mctanned there as he acknowledges the shot.


It looks like Paul Mctanned has been cut.

Mctanned dives in and scores a takedown into Steel's guard.
Mctanned pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Steel is keeping the position for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mctanned wants to control from the top but Steel keeps moving.

Mctanned stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Steel swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mctanned stands and throws Steel's legs to the side, diving into side control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mctanned tries to move to mount but Steel blocks the move with his legs.
The ground and pound from Mctanned seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Mctanned is trying to ground and pound but Steel uses the momentary lack of control by Mctanned to regain half guard.

Mctanned is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Steel sees it coming and defends easily.
Steel has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Strong like Butterfly. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Steel has hold of Mctanned's hands but Mctanned slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mctanned not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Mctanned missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Steel looks like he's trying to stand up.
Mctanned sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Steel defending well though.
Mctanned is looking to pass Steel's guard but actually Steel recovers to full guard.
Steel avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Mctanned is looking to work some ground and pound but Steel has wrist control.
Steel is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Mctanned throws a strike but Steel rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Steel stands and steps away. Mctanned gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

so Mctanned counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Mctanned forces his way into half guard.
Mctanned looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Mctanned trying to control from half guard but Steel is working away.
Mctanned looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mctanned is stalling here. Steel is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Mctanned seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Steel has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Steel decides to stand back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Paul Mctanned will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Mctanned shoots in for a takedown but Steel shows good takedown defense.
Steel is looking to chop away at Mctanned's legs.
Steel throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Freddy Steel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Steel smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Steel tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mctanned was well out of range. Poor timing from Steel.
Steel fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mctanned manages to avoid it.

Steel is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Mctanned rather than just go for the knockout.

Mctanned drops down looking for a counter takedown but Steel sprawls and moves away.

Steel is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mctanned.
Steel throws a big shot that misses.
Mctanned takes one to the side of the head.
Mctanned wants to slow Steel down by chopping away at his legs.
Some bone on bone action there as Steel checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Steel lands with an uppercut that bounces Mctanned off the cage and back into range.
Some wild striking there from Steel.
A slow jab from Steel misses its intended target.
Mctanned throws a leg kick but Steel checks it.
Steel swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Steel tests Mctanned's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Steel lands a slapping body shot.
Mctanned uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Steel.
Mctanned half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Steel misses with a low kick as Mctanned jumps back.
Steel swings for the body but Mctanned moves out of range.
Mctanned appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Mctanned takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Steel lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Steel lands a big right hand that sends Mctanned crashing to the mat! Steel stays standing though and waves Mctanned back to his feet!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Steel misses with an uppercut. Mctanned saw that one coming.
Oh Mctanned is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Steel shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Mctanned seems to have got his legs back now.
Mctanned throws an overhand right that lands on Steel's shoulder, as Steel tries to avoid the shot.
Mctanned seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Steel misses the shot to the body.
Steel paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Mctanned wants to take the fight to the mat but Steel manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Steel has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mctanned is proving hard to escape from.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Steel stands up and waves to Mctanned to follow him.

Freddy Steel comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Steel has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
