Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Roman Gruzinsky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
11 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Li!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Nard Betker and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Li misses with a takedown attempt
and Gruzinsky counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Gruzinsky scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Li tries to clinch but Gruzinsky moves out of range.
Li has his takedown stuffed
and Gruzinsky counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Gruzinsky throws a shot to the body.
Li looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gruzinsky is fending him off so far but Li persists. Nope, Gruzinsky circles away and we're back to standing.
Roman Gruzinsky has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Li.
Li tries to clinch up but Gruzinsky circles away and keeps his distance.
Li takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Li looks winded!
Gruzinsky lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Gruzinsky lands a big head kick that sends Li tumbling to the mat! Gruzinsky takes a step backwards and waves Li back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Li is rocked!
It looks like Jason Li has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Li gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! Gruzinsky points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Li wakes up just in time to hear Gruzinsky thank his coaches in the post fight interview.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Roman Gruzinsky!
Roman Gruzinsky decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
