The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Futter shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Monroe napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Monroe tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Futter is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Futter has hold of Monroe's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Monroe tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Futter cranks the arm and Monroe screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Monroe, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Buck Futter was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
